PLATF9RM Physical: How To Run

Tuesday 14 November l 12.30 - 1.30PM, Floor 5 Reception, Tower Point

Did you know that the way that you swing your arms or hold your head as you run could contribute or prevent you getting injured as you run? Moreover, if you get your technique right – and it does take practise – you could improve your pace, particularly over long distance events of half marathon and above.

If you want to learn how you could improve your running technique to prevent injury and improve your speed, join us for this special PLATF9RM workshop with Rachael Woolston, founder of www.girlsruntheworld.co.uk

Working in pairs, you’ll video each other and we’ll then go over your videos so that you can assess your own style. Seeing firsthand how you run is one of the most effective ways of ensuring you make changes.

Rachael has coached and mentored hundreds of runners from beginners through to marathon level in the last nine years. When she's not running or coaching or mentoring, she's writing about running and fitness for the national media or creating digital content for brands.

Please bring a phone to video yourselves and the event is weather dependant.

Each has been at the helm of a progressive operation and they’ll be exploring what community is, why it's so important, and discussing how Brighton can innovate harder than the rest.

Each speaker will share their story and then the floor will be open for a Q + A. It promises to be an awesome evening and we hope to see you there!

Any successful business lives or dies by the people it employs and the team it builds.

We spend so much of our professional life at work it’s crucial that, as early-stage business owners, we not only find ways to create a productive and inspiring environment but also nurture and develop our teams so they blossom and remain loyal.

But finding and hiring the right talent and keeping them is a very real challenge that can profoundly affect your businesses chance of success. So, if you are a solopreneur looking to make your first hire or a larger business trying to scale your team for growth, this is definitely the talk for you.

Modern Brighton & Hove

Cara Courage, Paul Zara, Richard Wolfstrome and Jim Stephenson

Wednesday 29 November l 6PM - 9.30PM, Hove Town Hall

unnamed.jpg

Earlier this year we (Cara Courage, Paul Zara, Richard Wolfstrome and Jim Stephenson) launched a map of Brighton & Hove's Modern Architecture and ever since we've been asked the question "Why didn't you include this building?" and "What's that one doing in the map?". Join us on Wednesday 29 November at PLATF9RM inside Hove Town Hall for a lively evening of discussion around the buildings included and those that weren't.

Before the discussion (panelists TBA), there will also be a series of short talks on some of Brighton's less considered architecture from Alf Le Floic (who is currently researching a book on Brighton's architectural follies), photographer Rob Ochard (who spent a year documenting every pub in the city), fellow photographer Kevin Meredith (who gained incredible access to the construction of the i360) and designer Claire Potter (who transformed a former public toilet in Hove into her studio).

This event is kindly supported by RIBA South East and copies of the maps will be available to buy on the evening.
