Guest Blog: Make Work Meaningful

If you’ve never been to Meaning, you’re in for a treat. The 'Glastonbury of Brighton’ is back this November to continue making business a better, healthier, more compassionate force. Read on for some exclusive insights from Event Director, Louise Ash.

Meaning has called ‘the Glastonbury of business’. Only this Glastonbury isn’t in Glastonbury. It’s in Brighton. It’s no coincidence that Europe’s number one conference for progressive business happens in a city that knows what it means to think differently and stand out from the crowd.

We started Meaning seven years ago, in our home city of Brighton. Brighton is where we work, where we do business and where we belong. And we can’t help feeling that one of the key reasons our radical business conference has grown every year is because Brighton is the perfect place to talk about change.

Meaning is a coming together of people who are working to make business a better, healthier, more compassionate force. Brand-side leaders rub shoulders with freelancers. Entrepreneurs share lunch with academics. And technologists enjoy a drink with artists. We’re a diverse bunch, united in our desire to align their personal values with their work and impact.

Each year at Meaning, we talk about economics (let’s change it), leadership (let’s understand it), personal growth (let’s nurture it), the environment (let’s sustain it), innovation (let’s disrupt it) and the future of work (let’s create it).

Meaning’s 2019 line-up is strong: maybe even our best yet. There’s Armin Steuernagel, who’ll be making the case for ‘steward ownership’ of businesses; there’s Jennifer Brandel, of Hearken, who is truly shaking up the role of journalism in our modern world; and there’s uncompromising political journalist Paul Mason, who is full of wisdom on AI, market forces and the way we need to reclaim our power as human beings. They’ll be joined by several more inspiring speakers, and backed up by a whole host of workshops that will encourage everyone to get fully immersed in the day.

We love soaking up the atmosphere at PLATF9RM whenever we visit. It’s full of start-ups and innovators who are specialists in their fields, and we know that they’re the ones with the biggest, boldest ideas, and the most potential to make a difference. We want to see some of you at Meaning this year, so we’re offering PLATF9RM members a discount on tickets for Meaning 2019 at the beautiful Brighton Dome on Thursday 14 November.

With the unique PLATF9RM code ‘Make Work Wonderful’, your Meaning ticket is just £236 +VAT (a saving of 20% over the final few £295 ticket price). It’s your chance to invest in a day that really might change the way you think and work. And might just change the world.

See you on Thursday 14 November!
